A Flexible and Low Cost Tactile Sensor for Robotic Applications

Live Demo of a flexible tactile sensor developed at the institute. The sensor detects the pressure distribution over the sensor area. This is useful for robotic applications, where contacts with the environment or humans are inevitable or even desired.
The sensor is made from widely available materials. It consists of sewn stainless steel threads with a piezoresistive polymer in-between.
