NASA Valkyrie or R5: test HUMANOID to explore the Red Planet.
NASA has created four 6-foot, 290lb iron men, which are being tested in hostile environments to pave the way for future exploration missions. Called Valkyrie or R5, the £ 1.6 million ($ 2 million) machines are set to prepare the planet Mars for human colonization and help astronauts with jobs in space. Researchers at the University of Edinburgh in Scotland, along with Northeastern University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Boston, United States, were chosen to test and refine the technology in an attempt to expand their capabilities. A PhD student TechCrunch said how the robot can make autonomous decisions, move around and perform tasks. The robot will be further tested this summer as 20 teams will fight for a $ 1 million prize in the NASA Space Robot Challenge. NASA spokesman revealed how Valkiria will be placed on a similar Mars stage, adding: In the not-too-distant future, R5 has arrived on Mars along with supplies before a human mission. During the night a dust storm damages the habitat and solar panels, and caused the primary communication antenna to lose its alignment. The robot must repair the damage, implement a new solar panel and align the communication antenna to complete the task. Comes as President Donald Trump pledged to unlock the mysteries of
space in his inaugural speech. And the leader of the United States asked NASA to focus on space exploration, not climate change,
during his candidacy for the White House. Trump has earmarked a 15.4billion £ reported for brainpower space to get humans to
